At Heidi’s Artistic Designs, I believe art is a powerful form of creative expression that connects us to the world around us. It’s more than creating something beautiful — it’s about slowing down, breathing deeply, and finding peace in the process.
As a self-taught artist, my mission is to inspire and empower others to explore their creativity with confidence. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist, your creativity is valuable — and I encourage you to express yourself freely.
🌿Where My Journey Began
My love for art began in childhood, sketching cartoons from our local newspaper and discovering the simple joy of putting pencil to paper. In 1988, while in college, an art class opened a new creative path for me.
Years later, in 2010, while caring for my dad full-time, I discovered Zentangle during a segment on New Hampshire Chronicle. I remember thinking, “I could do this.”
That moment became a turning point.
🌿Discovering Zentangle
Zentangle — a meditative drawing practice built on repetitive strokes — brought calm and clarity into my busy caregiving life. Even short drawing sessions became moments of peace.
In many ways, the rhythm of drawing felt similar to tending a garden — patient, intentional, and quietly transformative. Just as nature grows slowly and beautifully in its own time, so does creativity.
As I delved deeper, I began incorporating watercolor, graphite, pastel, and ink into my designs. My curiosity led me to classes, online workshops, and creative communities that helped me grow both as an artist and teacher.
🌿Why I Share
Through my blog and videos, I share the techniques I’ve learned, the lessons that strengthened me, and the challenges that shaped me. Art has given me peace, confidence, and clarity — and I believe it can do the same for you.
Creativity isn’t about perfection.
It’s about presence.
Like a garden that grows with patience and care, creativity flourishes when we give it time, attention, and grace.
